As a relative newcomer to the architectural lighting design industry, Luciforma needed a fresh, polished identity to establish them as a contender among their big-studio rivals. The goal was to create a contemporary identity that was minimal without being boring.
Drawing inspiration from gradating shadows cast by light, an array of grays lend sophistication and simplicity to the brand. Studio6 by PlayType was chosen as the primary brand font for its classic yet fresh utilitarianism.
This work is conceptual, but was created with the generous permission of the business. All site photos are actual architectural lighting projects created by Luciforma LLC. Used with permission.
The idea for the Luciforma brand was to visualize light, but there are infinite ways to do that. Sketching was a very important part of the brand design process because of how easy and quick it is to visualize different concepts and sift out the good from the bad.
The logo concept is an abstract representation of the brandname’s Latin roots, exemplifying the beauty found at the intersection of light and form. High-contrast letterforms in the wordmark add contemporary flair, and the terminals of the “f” and “a” were squared-off to reference the structure of the logo.
The monochromatic color scheme provides unity across touchpoints, fading into the background as the structured typographic treatments take center stage.
The redesigned website solution conveys a clear brand narrative and acts as a canvas for the vibrant imagery to capture focus.
